I believe that trauma-informed care is an interdisciplinary pursuit.
Trauma-informed communities, workplaces, families, and individuals understand how trauma can be prevented and how to respond when something traumatic has happened, ultimately building safer, more in-tune, and more effective relationships.
If we want to build a more trauma-informed, trauma-sensitive world, we must dare to think big. Trauma can be treated in therapy rooms with trained psychotherapists, but this work is often limited to individuals and families who can access therapy. The communities we live in can learn to recognize and respond to the impacts of trauma, then the people within those communiti
There are many parts of a community that may benefit from building a trauma-informed approach into their work:
• schools and universities
• workplaces, big and small
• family systems
• community centres
• NGOs
• corporations
• public systems
Human adversity is varied and complex. What our adverse experiences tend to have in common is an enduring emotional impact.
There is no set list of what is considered traumatic for human beings. No matter what you’ve been through, if something from your past continues to impact you in unexpected or distressing ways, you may benefit from relational therapy.

How I work
My approach to therapy is, first and foremost, relational. This means that the relationship between myself and my clients provides an anchor of safety, trust, and care from which one’s inner experience can be explored.
I am also interested in understanding your relationship to your thoughts, feelings, memories, experiences, and your world. When it comes to mental health challenges related to trauma and loss, we (understandably) struggle against our pain and the circumstances that surround it, often in an effort to banish what hurts. My approach is to support you in observing your pain with curiosity and compassion as you build a new relationship with it.
How to begin:
01
If you’re ready to see if I’d be the right therapist for you, I invite you to schedule a free consultation call. During the call, you can get a sense of how I work and I can learn more about your hopes for therapy.
02
If you decide you’d like to begin therapy with me, I’ll ask you to digitally fill out and sign some paperwork. The paperwork will cover confidentiality, background information, and policies.
03
In our first session, we’ll begin to build a shared understanding of your challenges and how they are impacting you. My intention is for you to leave feeling hopeful about our work together.
